Your arrival at Harbor View Manor will feel like you’re among dear friends. Our residents, who hail from a variety of diverse backgrounds, go out of their way to make newcomers feel welcome and part of a tightly-knit extended family. Daily life revolves around the dining room, Ben B. Cheney Recreation Room and the Resident Lounge. During lunch and dinner on Mondays through Thursdays and our Friday brunch, residents and their guests take pleasure in each other’s company while enjoying delicious, healthy meals in a restaurant-style setting. The dining room, convenient and open every day, is also the site of our many holiday celebrations. Mother’s Day High Tea (with chamber music, special cherished tea cups, hats and gloves) and the Father’s Day barbecue rib dinner (complete with barbershop quartets, when we can get them!) are two our residents' favorite special meal events. In nice weather, we serve on the patio to include barbecues and ice cream socials.

Weekday dinners at Harbor View Manor offer soup, salad, entrée, vegetables, bread, drinks, dessert and fresh fruit to take home. Lunch menus offer hamburgers, soup, several types of sandwiches and salads as well as a daily special. On Sundays and holidays, residents enjoy old-fashioned dinners like fried chicken or roast beef with a full salad bar and homemade pie. Don't forget, this is all served in our glass-sided dining room with the magnificent and awe-inspiring view of Mt. Ranier and the Cascade Mountains!
Our Ben B. Cheney Recreation Room features a free Internet-linked computer lab donated by the Greater Tacoma Foundation, billiards, shuffleboard, ping pong and exercise equipment, and provides space for religious services, family reunions and other social events. It’s also the site of a weekly Red Cross quilting bee that has resulted in the creation of more than 100,000 hand-crafted quilts.
The Resident Lounge buzzes with activity from morning to night with free a.m. coffee, afternoon card games and bingo or movies on the big-screen TV in the evening. Residents can borrow books, CDs and videos from our generously endowed library, and comfortable furniture and a fireplace give the room a cozy, living room feeling. Our very active Resident Council sponsors weekly Bingo and rummage sales here, too! Residents stay in touch with what’s going on at Harbor View Manor through a lively community newsletter. Scheduled activities include monthly resident forums, safety seminars and even visits by massage therapists.
